World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade option allows players to boost the gear rating of an item up 700 points and also add a final bonus. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory, and then taking them to the kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded to increase their stats (like perfect broken point armour that is rolled for melee PvP) while others like weapons don't change much post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can increase their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons come with a flat rate bonus that increases damage per second. Additionally some weapons come with a set bonus which is activated when three or more of the same weapon is present on a unit. This bonus may exceed the damage that an upgrade can do on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon is contingent on its rarity as well as its current level. For instance an item with a rating of +2 will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while a +3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a gun will increase until it requires more Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.
Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. This is usually a good thing, but it can also have negative consequences. Upgrades can make things inaccessible, unless you're very lucky.
Upgrades can be made to armor items to boost their stats. This will increase the base defense of a chest or helm while belts and gloves will boost their required strength and agility. Armor also has a reroll option for its Enhanced Defense%, meaning that it could change its roll to a lower value.
The upgrade template for a weapon will display the new stats that it will get when upgraded and their respective values. This means that a change from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11 attack-damage sword will result in a weapon gaining 33% attack damage. The 3% difference does not mean that the weapon will be hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.
A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button with circular arrows within the item menu. This will roll an item and alter its stats but not reset the weapon's levels, or bind it to account status.
Armor
Making a few improvements to your armor can make an enormous difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets provide massive boosts to poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, making the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. In general, the greater defense your character has the more value you get from every point of health and it's crucial to improve your armor as often as you can.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four in total and each one requires you to complete a unique side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the main quest and the associated fountains, you'll be able to talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels and the amount of material and Rupees required to complete each will vary. You'll require anything between three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the first armor piece, and between five Rubies or ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. For example, the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, which allows you to keep up with a good-sized group of adversaries in most cold conditions and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded up to +20 defense, providing the protection needed to survive a full on raid with a handful of friends.
It isn't possible to upgrade armor the same as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior it is best to focus on upgrading your armor to increase physical power or the power of spells. It is also recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you will still be wearing at the end of the story, such as the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you wear in the final boss fight The Monter Parts Merchant Mask.
You can also unlock some benefits to your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally speaking, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer however, it could be useful to have a few improvements to the chest armor and helmets that allow you to stealth around certain monsters.
Potions
Potions are substances in bottles that, when consumed give the player a temporary status effect. There are five kinds of potions, each with a specific set of effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded to enhance their level of effectiveness. upgrade item can also enhance the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.
Upgrades to potion cost a certain amount of XP. These can be earned by making them on a table or the Alchemist's chest. The price of upgrades is dependent on the kind of potion you wish to upgrade, as well as on the item's Mark Level and rarity.
To upgrade a potions you need to right-click it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open a GUI where you can select the potions you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll give you when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at a time and their XP will be added to the total amount of XP you have.
Once a potion is upgraded, it will not degrade until you use it again, or break the bottle it is stored in. You can also change the name of the potion by clicking on it in your inventory.
Version 1.7.2 introduced a few modifications to the mechanics of potions. Splash potions for instance have now a duration of that is 0:08 instead of 22.5 seconds displayed on the hover display for the item. The table for potion can now be constructed using four Wood Planks and two Glass. It can now be used in both Survival and Bedrock. Contrary to Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions cannot be mixed in cauldrons. The same is true for using a potion in an empty cauldron. This will deplete the liquid, and then refill the bottle.
Lastly, there are now lingering potions, which are made using splash and dragon breath potions. Similar to lingering potions, the effect can be extended by adding redstone. The potion table has been rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions are also added, for instance, the potion of leaping and decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket can be a small, inexpensive ornament or piece jewelry. It may be a reference to an object or decoration that serves a purpose, but is not particularly significant such as a tiny thimble. In certain cultures, trinkets are used to signify affection or friendship, specifically between family members.
Trinkets can be upgraded by players in addition to weapons or armor, as well as potions. Upgrades can be purchased by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. As with other upgrades to items, trinkets can be swapped out at will without losing their stats.
Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are offered with gold, tokens or fragments of rare trinkets.
The upgrade of a trinket can be an economical alternative to buying a new one. One can upgrade a trinket with as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl as previous one, and will have an additional upgrade bonus of 1.
Trinkets can be upgraded when they're not needed which allows a player to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded between players, making them an alternative to gold.
Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This means that the top-in slot items for each class are first upgraded then their secondary gear, and then other pieces of equipment they will not replace in the near future (such as a ring or an cloak). When deciding on which items to upgrade players should also consider the preferred statistics of their class. For example when Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tankers, they should prioritize upgrading their helm, chest shoulders, belt, and helm.
After they've become unusable trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher level. The new trinket has an additional 1percent bonus. However, a re-upgrade can destroy the old trinket, unless it is salvaged using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades but still less expensive than buying new ones.
